Open class: Ballet with J. Davis Hobdy

Join Davis Hobdy for an inspiring intermediate 18yr and up adult ballet class. Davis focuses on finding the many ways he can help adults enjoy the physical activity and exercise of dance. He challenges students to recognize different ways of relating language and interpretation in ballet while helping students feel positive and productive both mentally and physically.

About J. Davis Hobdy

Citizen Potawatomi Nation tribal member J. Davis Hobdy earned an MA in English from SNHU, an MA in Dance Technique Pedagogy from Middlesex University, and a BA in Performing Arts from St. Mary’s College of California’s Liberal Education for Arts Professionals-NYC campus. Professionally he has danced for Ballet Austin, Ballet Dallas, Texas National Dance Theatre, the Dance Consortium, Dancers Unlimited Repertory Company, and PIECES. Hobdy has appeared internationally in Amsterdam, Athens, Kyiv, Paris, Piraeus, Prague, The Republic of San Marino, and throughout the USA.

A retired ballet dancer, he has taught and lectured throughout the USA and Europe. His teaching credits include Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Dallas Theater Center, choreographic residencies at The Hockaday School, and the National High School Dance Festivals in 2012 and 2014. Hobdy’s “Dance as Fitness for the Mature Adult” was published by the CID-UNESCO, International Dance Council. Hobdy is a member of the CID-UNESCO, National Dance Education Organization, Maryland Dance Education Association, and the National Indian Education Association. He currently teaches ballet at Dance Theatre Southwest and is adjunct faculty in Language and Letters at Northern New Mexico College
